The Hangover: Apathy Sets In

stock-market.jpgI don’t know what you do if you’re not into sports.  Between playing and watching, I could literally do nothing else with my time and still be really busy.  Let me rephrase, I don’t do anything else with my time and I’m still really busy.  And this weekend was no exception.  Between the baseball playoffs and tons of football, and since no one running for president or vice-president made any news-worthy gaffes in the past 48 hours, it was all to wall millionaires playing games on my television.  Anything to distract from the financial crisis that hasn’t let up yet.  (I should also mention that I was under the weather and thus it was perfectly acceptable that I didn’t, you know, go outside.)

Except there was one problem.  I can’t watch baseball because it’s just too painful.  After three years in a row of losing do-or-die games to end the season, it’s just too much for me.  And, since the Giants won last year’s Super Bowl and I had an amazing fantasy season, I decided months ago to take a break from the NFL.  And now my life is nearly empty.  Sure, I’ve got my girlfriend, some friends, family and other nonsense, but what meaning does any of it have when I can’t attach my worth to a bunch of people wearing the same clothes all afternoon?  Guess I might have to venture out into the big bad world.  Hey, how did the Dow do today?
